Referee Training Program

Our next scheduled training session are: Saturday, August 16th from 9 to 11am and Sept. 16 from 9 to 11am in room 513B. Please contact us in advance if possible as we will provide lunch for the participants. This is open to youth and adults and will focus on the upcoming youth basketball season.

As part of our ongoing process to better our Sports Ministry, we have begun a referee training for those who will be officiating our games.

As an incentive to those in our youth program, we have partnered with the Family Ministry to offer a scholarship fund for future youth trips offered through CC. For every hour they referee or work in the concession stand, they receive a $5 credit toward qualified trips such as CIY.

This training will cover the basics of officiating and how to make those quick judgment calls. This training will lay the groundwork if you decide to referee on an advanced level. Trainer(s) are certified Florida High School referees. This training is necessary whether you are working with Kindergarteners or even the 12th graders in the spring season. This does not certify you in any way to work ACTUAL high school games. That is done through SABO.
